The park is Europe's biggest area of protected night sky which means future generations will be able to cherish and enjoy the spectacular views.
Enthusiasts and beginner astronomers alike can now take a stargazing holiday at Blacksmith's Cottage. Our guests can enjoy a stargazing experience with our 70x900 refractor telescope, 10x50 binoculars, head torches, reference books/magazines, deck chairs, rugs, flasks, hats, scarves, gloves, all included in every booking.
All breaks are given the option of adding a 'stargazing evening' to their holiday. Our local astronomer will visit Blacksmith's Cottage and give you a tailor-made stargazing experience to remember using his own equipment and/or your own - from only £20 per adult and £10 per child for up to 2hrs instruction (including a hot drink).
Why not put colour into your stargazing and add astro photography to your list!
In addition to your evening, or if the weather is not favourable, a presentation with power point presentation in The Forge (adjacent to the cottage) can be organised with an emphasis on what you would like to study - in a relaxed atmosphere with a glass of wine! It would be appreciated if you could mention your interest in either/both when booking. Ring Sue for a prices.
Our stargazers calendar will help you choose your stargazing break, bearing in mind a full moon can still be very interesting particularly for the beginner.
