A hidden gem on the edge of the Northumberland National Park centrally located to explore both coast and country, you enter a completely different world as you approach the pretty hamlet of Alnham, you begin to relax! This renovated 'smithy' dating back to the 1850's offers you some of the best views in Northumberland for you to enjoy at your own pace - a total get away from it all holiday.

Step out into a myriad of footpaths, bridleways and cyclepaths, with sheltered valleys, hidden waterfulls and dramatic hills rich in wildlife and archaeological finds.

A scenic 15 minute drive brings you to the pretty village of Rothbury, situated on the banks of the river Coquet in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Rising above Rothbury are the Simonside Hills, a walkers paradise, or maybe you would prefer a round of golf on Rothbury Golf Club's stunning course and clubhouse? National Trust houses at Cragside and Wallington Hall nearby are not to be missed.

The market town of Alnwick with it's wonderful Castle and Gardens is a 25 minute drive away, whilst just beyond you will find the sandy beaches and coves forming the Heritage Coastline. It is here you will see Lindisfarne, Bamburgh and Dunstanburgh Castles rising above the beaches beckoning you to explore. Take a boat ride to the Farne Islands, and step out onto one of Europe's most exciting wildlife habitats where you'll get close to thousands of birds and grey seals.

Tour inland. Walk, cycle, birdwatch and sail on the largest man-made lake in Europe - the beautiful Kielder Water and Forest Park. View the nesting Osprey's from the visitors centre and keep a look out for the red squirrel feeding stations on the way!

Soak up the history of our border county -

Walk Hadrian's Wall and see how the Roman's lived. Visit the 16th century Bastle's, fortified farmhouses peculiar to the border raids between England and Scotland.Relive the 1513 Battle of Flodden and visit the site where King James IV of Scotland died, becoming the last monarch from the British Isles to suffer such a fate. Nearby English Heritage Etal Castle houses an award winning Battle of Flodden exhibition.
